Криворізькому ярмарку 250 років
Ще у далекому 1761 році, коли наше місто перебувало у статусі військової слободи у ньому виникло нове явище суспільно-економічного життя – ярмаркова торгівля.
Спочатку щороку ярмарків проводилось два – Нікольський з 9 травня та Успенський з 15 серпня. Розв’язок питання коли святкувати 250-річницю цієї події у нашому місті я залишу читачу, а от розповідь про те, що собою являв ярмарок у Кривому Розі того часу є моєю метою.

Не дивлячись на те, що ярмарок був, як би ми сказали зараз – спеціалізованим (основним товаром була різноманітна худоба і коні), тим не менше на нього приїздили купці з великих міст і влаштовували, так-званий, панський ряд, у якому можна було знайти і самі витончені та модні тканини, і вироби із золота та срібла; одним словом, можна знайти все і на любий смак. Крім того у панському ряду з ранку до вечора можна було зустріти доволі строкату публіку вищого, середнього і низького стану суспільства, як селян так і з міський люд. Якщо поміщик приїздив продати коней і зробити покупки для дому а у нього декілька доньок – він віз на ярмарок все сімейство з думкою «нехай розважаться».
На криворізькі ярмарки привозили велику кількість худоби і коней, але і ціни були не маленькі. Ціни примушували родини більш ретельно відвідувати лавки та крамниці і щодня торгуватись з продавцями. Євреї – переважно запрошували покупниць, принизливо кланяючись, і тихим голосом заламували захмарні ціни. Українські торговці підтримували обурення, з цього приводу, покупців, але ціни ломили не менше і за кожен гривеник (10 копійок) надзвичайно божились.
Не сумно було просто ходити цими рядами і розглядати різноманітні групи покупців, а ще більше покупниць, які одягались до лавки немов на бал, щодня демонструючи нові наряди. Це було традицією тому, що панський ряд, певним чином – виставка наречених. Поки матусі торгувались з купцями, доньки походжали туди і сюди у супроводі певної кількості кавалерів (чисельність кавалерів перебувала у прямій залежності від матеріальних статків батька нареченої). У той час у Кривому Розі мешкало декілька офіцерів третього уланського полку і оченята дівчат частенько зупинялись на молодих кавалеристах. Всі ці звички походили від форми життя поміщиків. Помістя їх віддалені від міст, розкидані на великій відстані одне від одного, що робило відвідування сусідів незручним. Молодь веселилась тільки на родинні свята у себе або у сусідів; постійно бачили одні і ті самі обличчя, то кому же буде не в радість різноманіття! Ось чому ярмарки для родин поміщиків слугували приємним місцем розваг. Молодь поспішала на ярмарок з єдиною метою – розважитись, хоча ніхто не зізнавався у цьому, здійснення покупок було справою другорядною.
У Кривому Розі, на ярмарковій площі (територія сучасного хлібозаводу №1) у декілька ліній були розбиті намети, під якими були розставлені і розкладені товари, як щоденного попиту так і коштовності або предмети невигадливого сільського кокетства. Але торговці, а особливо торговки тут були значно спритнішими за тих хто тримав лавки у панському ряду.
У двох місцях стояли балагани – лялькової комедії. Паяц (клоун) закликав глядачів, хоча у відсутності них проблеми не було. Особливо селяни поспішали скористатись можливістю подивитись на комедію, щоб потім цілий рік жити спогадами і розповідати сусідам про побачене. Але були і такі селяни, що проходячи повз балаган із дітьми казали, що то є диявольське дійство і повчали, що не потрібно дивитись цю бісівську втіху. Молодь мовчки слухала батьківські настанови, але почувши сміх глядачів у балагані, починали очікувати хвилинку щоб і самим за гривеник пореготати до схочу.
Між натовпом людей у різних напрямках ходили селяни-росіяни із самоварами із запасом бубликів у напівкруглій коробці. Це продавці збитню які вигукували: «…кіпіт! гарячій кіпіт!». Зараз цей напій називають чаєм і він є достатньо популярним напоєм, а тоді, та ще й літом було досить мало бажаючих скуштувати цей напій.
Власно тваринний ярмарок був зовсім не цікавим, звісно для тих хто не приймав у ньому участь. Ряди різноманітної худоби і коней на прив’язку ось і все. Декілька іноземців, пара десятків євреїв та поміщики або їх управителі розглядають тварин, торгуються і вирішують справи. Інколи на ярмарках влаштовували кінські перегони, але великою популярністю вони не користувались.
Ярмаркова торгівля на Криворіжжі не відрізнялась від сусідніх регіонів. Як і у інших містечках, розвиток залізниці і інших шляхів сполучення забезпечували можливість отримання товару, у міру потреби, безпосередньо у потужних торгівельних центрах, за місцем виробництва (за мануфактурою їздили до Москви). З іншого боку, самі промислові підприємства безпосередньо або за посередництва вояжерів стали просувати власну продукцію до місць споживання. Земства і споживчі товариства повсюдно утворювали мережу складів і лавок, що займались забезпеченням всім потрібним такі місця, які раніше забезпечувались тільки за рахунок ярмарок. У дрібних селах стали виникати базари з пропозицією суто селянських товарів: гончарні вироби, сільськогосподарські товари та інвентар: коси, граблі, колеса і т.п.; торгували на базарах і мануфактурою, бакалією і ін. але не у тім сутність справи. Ще до початку ХХ сторіччя ярмаркова торгівля, у широкому розумінні цього слова, займала доволі важливе місце. До початку Другої світової війни стан речей змінився. Великі ярмарки продовжували існувати, і користувались увагою населення, у той же час, хоча і поступово, поступалися у значенні стаціонарній торгівлі у містах і дрібним ярмаркам по селах. Спостерігались і інші зміни – центр тяжіння ярмаркової торгівлі зміщувався від мануфактурної, галантерейної і інших подібних товарів все більше переходив до торгівлі скотом – рогатою худобою, кіньми, свинями (головними споживачами на які були Варшава, Одеса і Німеччина). Великий попит на Криворіжжі був на сировину: овчина, шкіра, вовна. Але зростання обсягів продажу на містах – зменшувало попит на відповідні групи товарів на ярмарках. Як наслідок значно зменшився обсяг торгівлі не тільки на Криворіжжі, а і на Каховській, Бахмутській, Єлисаветградській, Вознесенській ярмарках які до того вважалися провідними з продажу сировини.

Наверное так, люди(торговцы) выбрали это место для торговли и съезжались сюда торговать со всех ближайших мест обитания. Потом, чтобы ближе было торговать, торговцы решили поселится возле этого места. Точно так же как рынок, люди идут торговать на рынок но там не живут. А вообще с покон веков так было, там где торговля или производство возникает населенный пункт.
